Just a quick update. Last night around 9:30PM ET Stacey had a spill... she was getting up off a chair by herself, which she has been doing for over a week, and slipped and fell. The doctors and nurses examined her and do not think she has a "break", but they are doing a CAT scan right now to see if there are any damages to muscles or small hairline fractures. Remember that Stacey has very brittle bones because of her inability to absorb calcium while she was in liver failure, so she has already had small hairline fractures in her back and hip.
She is in a lot of pain today and we hope that the CAT scan will show that her pain is from the jolt and that there were no serious injuries.
9/3 Update...

Hi all! Happy almost Labor Day...
Gary called me a little while ago with an update on Stacey's condition after the fall. The x-ray (or CAT scan?) showed that she does have a new fracture in her hip, but she can bear weight on it and the doc's believe that it can heal on its own. There were no visible injuries to her shoulder, but she feels pain in that area also.
She may have pain from the fall for the next couple of week, but besides making her comfortable, the doctors do not see a need for any procedures.
The good news is that this injury will not stop her from moving out of ICU and onto the 3rd floor at Mayo. That hopefully means that moving from Mayo to their nice apartment in Jacksonville will happen soon also! I'm sure Kittie Star and Maggie (the dog) will be anxious to see her.
That's all for now and hope everyone had a great day (and is staying cool, if you're in the Bay Area)!
Take care, with much love, appreciation and light,
Marcey

You know, I was feeling a little sorry for myself today (going through some things with my teenage manchild), but after reading about Stacey's latest slip and fall with everything else she has had to endure, I'm going to tie that knot a little tighter and keep hanging on!
ReplyDeleteI continue to pray for her in the hopes she will be able to make that move to Jacksonville real soon.
Take care. xoxo
