Now more than EVER...

WE NEED EVERYONE NOW...

Posted 21 minutes ago

I am sitting here typing, asking for the right words and the strength to conjure up whatever needs to be said or done to get us through this time. We just got an update from the doctor...

About 1 - 15% of transplant patients experience some sort of lung damage as a result of the transplant, due to an infection or the amount of blood needed during the transplant. At this time, Stacey has continued to need breathing help because she is part of the 15% that has damage. Our hope is that the lung damage is temporary and will heal itself with time.

This is somewhat compounded by the blood clot in her abdomen, which may be causing some infection. The blood clot is not in her bloodstream, so she's not susceptible to stroke or other clotting issues, but it may be preventing her body to heal the lungs. The infectious disease doctor and a surgeon spoke and they do not want to operate to remove the clot, giving her body more energy to focus on the lungs, because of possible additional bleeding, so they are keeping her on antibiotics and hope that while the blot clot dissolves, the lung will progress in healing.

This will keep her on the ventilator at this time and we're flying on a wing and a prayer right now to get her through this. The lung issue could be life critical, we will only know as we continue to watch her body heal. Because she has so many lines in her, the doctors are going to start changing IV's, catheters, etc to prevent more infection.

We will know more in the next 24 hours, but we really want everyone now to collectively take a moment to stop, think of Stacey, pray for fast healing, more than we've done before. Please send her strength to keep her will strong to get through this. Whoever you go to for strength, however you pray, however you heal, however you love, please do so for my sister... Once you have, could you please post a note to the message board reminding us how much love there is right now?

thank you...
