Ancestors

Ancestors

I've just finished this new shrine and its already found a home at the Tangerine shop in Dublin, CA as an example of a new class that I'll be teaching over the next few months.

Its a cool class that I've been developing and teaching here at the HeArt Studio, but will be sharing this weekend, in Half Moon Bay at Luna's Memories for the first time to the PUBLIC!

This class is a little different than the classes that I've taught in the past. This workshop gets a little more personal and really works to dig out a little extra in the HEART department.

I use the principals of Feng Shui to do a little self exploration... in this shrine I was exploring the concept of Ancestors. At this time of year we often think of those who have come before us especially with celebrations all over California, the South West and Mexico of Dia de Los Muertos. My husband is of German heritage and I had this little German Bisque Doll and some German vintage text that I put to use in this exploration.

In Feng Shui the area referred to as Elders is about family and those who came before us. The energy is of the slow growing oak tree. The colors are typically hues of blue.

The story I built into this piece is about freedoms that we enjoy because of the sacrifices of our ancestors. The butterfly is a symbol of rebirth, renewal and freedom.

Join us if you will in Half Moon Bay this Sunday when we'll be doing more excavations!
